Two New Releases – Modern & Sci-Fi!

Monday, April 16th, 2012

The old saying goes that when it rains it pours, and that seems to be the case at the moment for Polgarus Games! Two new micro-products have been released in the past few days – one for a modern/near-future gamemaster, and the other for the sci-fi/space opera gamemaster.

120 Modern Tattoos provides a list of 120 different tattoos, to help make an NPC more unique whenever the PCs run into them. Each entry is simply an idea for a tattoo (eg: ying-yan, logo, etc) – the gamemaster still needs to come up with the specifics, if any, that they want to mention about the tattoo.

101 Starship Cargos offers 101 different items that could be in a random shipping container that the PCs have decided to open. The items could be used as-is (if the container really contains nothing special), or the gamemaster could have all sorts of nasty surprises hidden underneath the surface layer of the item :)

While I’ve said that the tattoo product is for modern settings, and the cargo product for sci-fi settings, both could be used for either type of setting with some minor little adaption.

Both of these products are available now over on RPGNow and DriveThruRPG.

New Release – 120 Modern Bar & Nightclub Names

Friday, April 6th, 2012

It’s been over two years(!) since Polgarus Games last released a new product. The drought has finally broken, and today we’ve released a new PDF to help the busy gamemaster.

While we’ve concentrated on space opera and sci-fi in the past, this time we’re looking to help support the gamemaster running a modern or near-future game with 120 Modern Bar & Nightclub Names. It is what it says on the tin: it gives the busy gamemaster a handy list 120 names suitable for a bar or nightclub.

Hopefully this will be the first of many more products to come :)

GM’s Day Sale

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

GMs Day LogoWhile it may not be an official holiday, for many years now March 4 has been labeled GM’s day – a chance for players everywhere to thank their GMs for putting in all the work needed to run the roleplaying sessions they enjoy.

In recognition of GM’s Day, Polgarus Games (along with many other companies) are putting our products on sale. Until March 8 you can buy all Polgarus Games products at 25% off. Head on over to RPGNow/DriveThruRPG to take a look (and remember to say ‘thank you’ to your GM the next time you see them!)

A New Site Design

Monday, February 1st, 2010

After a few years using the same layout (which made it painfully obvious that I was using blog software – WordPress – to run the site), I decided it was time for the web site to get a bit of a face lift. There are still a few pages to fix up, but overall I’m very happy with the result.

I hope that this is the start of a good year for Polgarus Games. We haven’t released any new products for the last few years (for various reasons), but the current plan is to end that drought this year. First up will be a revised edition of The Veggie Patch (a few rules tweaks and layout changes more than anything), with new products in the Space Opera Support line following soon after. If everything goes to plan a larger project will also get solidly underway this year, although when that will be ready for release is anyone’s guess. And while all this is going on I also plan to convert all our existing products over to ePub format, to make it easy for people with eReaders to use our products.

Part of the new site redesign is the addition of a Design Diary to the site. This will talk in more detail about the various products that are underway at Polgarus Games, and also some of the decisions that Polgarus Games may face in the future. It’s something I’ve been meaning to add for a while, and the new site design seemed as good a time as any to add it.

Polgarus Games mirroring D6 OGL files

Monday, February 1st, 2010

While it didn’t get a huge amount of attention in the RPG world, around the middle of last year Eric Gibson of West End Games very generously released the current D6 System using the OGL. By itself this didn’t really mean a lot for most gamers, but for publishers it was a huge deal – they were now free to use the D6 System in their own products at no cost, and without having to sign any license agreements with West End Games. (Polgarus Games will be taking advantage of this).

However Eric went one step further – in a huge move of generosity Eric made the currently published books freely available for download. The files were hosted on just the West End Games site, but with their site having server problems over the last few days several sites (including Polgarus Games) have stepped up to mirror the files. All the files are listed on the Downloads page, but are also listed below for convenience:
